Denise is a Clinical Psychologist with experience across public health and community mental health settings in both Australia and Singapore. She has experience providing psychological treatment to adults from diverse sociocultural backgrounds with a range of mental health concerns.
Denise has a particular passion for working with eating and body image difficulties, trauma, and managing intense emotions. She is also interested in working with people navigating life between cultures and brings both professional and personal insight to this work.
Denise's style is warm, curious, relational, and empathetically direct. She values open communication and collaboration, encouraging clients to take an active role in their therapy. Central to her work is a safe therapeutic relationship and a shared understanding of what brings clients to therapy.
Denise draws on evidence-based therapies including CBT, ACT, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.
Above all, Denise believes that therapy is a space for the raw and messy, where thoughts and emotions can surface without judgment. From there, a person can begin to understand what has been keeping them stuck in certain patterns. She works with her clients to explore what a helpful step forward could look like, whether that’s processing something painful, making choices that reflect what matters most, or trying new ways of responding to thoughts and feelings.
Denise strives to ensure that every person who works with her leaves with a sense of being genuinely understood, and a confidence that life can be different.
Denise works primarily in English and has a basic conversational understanding of Mandarin.
