Combined Assessments
Myndful Psychology provides a combined Autism and ADHD assessment for individuals 18 years and older.
Our assessments will help you to gain a deeper understanding of how your brain functions and to develop strategies to support and advocate for your unique cognitive profile, a combined Autism and ADHD assessment completed by a psychologist can assist in this process. Our focus at Myndful is on providing insights and tools to help you manage ADHD effectively through non-medication approaches.
If your primary goal is to pursue medication treatment for ADHD, it may be more efficient to consult directly with a psychiatrist.
What to expect
The assessment structure involves:
- 1 hour Clinical interview
- 4 hour Assessment interview
- 1 hour Collateral interview
- Questionnaires for you to and your informants to complete

The assessment process
The format for a combined Autism & ADHD assessment is a series of two interviews, followed by a feedback session.
You will be asked open-ended questions around your internal experience of the world, which are based on the four-core diagnostic Autistic differences of social differences, interests, sensory and sensorimotor profile, and need for predictability. You will also be asked to complete questionnaires, rating scales, intellectual screenings, and measures of sustained attention and distractibility throughout the assessment process.
You will have some other questionnaires to fill out after your assessment interviews, and your partner, friend, sibling, or parent can fill some out if it is safe to do so.
Assessment steps
Clinical interview
We start with a 1 hour clinical interview.
Assessment interview
Next step is a 4 hour assessment interview.
Collateral interview
The next step is a 1 hour collateral interview. This step is conducted with someone who knows the client well - a parent, carer, sibling or close relative of the client. For clients over the age of 12, we will also need to inveterview someone who knew the client well before the age of 12, this can be the same person.
Feedback session
The final step is 1 hour feedback session. This will be scheduled 2 weeks after the collateral interview. We will talk to you about your results and discuss what you need to do for the future.

Notes
- Having an assessment completed does not guarantee a diagnosis of Autism & ADHD
- ADHD is not covered by NDIS funding
- Diagnosis of Autism does not guarantee NDIS funding
Under the Australian Autism CRC's National Guidelines on Autism Assessment and Diagnosis it is best practice to have a multidisciplinary assessment, including a psychiatrist or GP, psychologist and an OT or Speech therapist, when wanting to access NDIS funding. An assessment from Myndful covers the psychological part of the assessment.
