Nathan is a registered psychologist (clinical and forensic registrar). He has experience working across inpatient mental health, addiction, forensic, and youth services, supporting adolescents and adults experiencing a range of challenges including addiction, trauma, emotional dysregulation, personality difficulties (including borderline personality disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and offending behaviours.

Nathan predominantly draws on Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helping clients understand the factors contributing to their difficulties and develop practical strategies for meaningful change.

His approach is warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental. He understands that many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain whether change is possible, and works to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can build greater self-understanding, resilience, and a life that feels aligned with their values.

His research focuses on the relationship between substance use, schema therapy concepts, and personality functioning, including personality disorder. His research also investigates conceptualising personality disorder through dimensional assessments and schema therapy concepts.

Outside of work, Nathan loves participating in endurance sports such as ultra-marathons and Hyrox, and trying all of Melbourne's new restaurants.
