Julian is a Clinical Psychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Monash University, where he also engages in research and teaching. He regards himself as a research-practitioner, combining academic rigour with clinical expertise.

Starting therapy can feel uncertain. Julian focuses on building a calm, thoughtful, and culturally responsive working relationship, tailoring therapy to each person's unique goals and context.

Julian's approach is purposeful and collaborative. Whether someone feels stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in long-standing patterns, he works with clients to build practical skills alongside deeper insight so that change feels realistic and lasting.

He draws on evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT skills, and Schema Therapy, selecting strategies that best fit the person and the problem.

Julian works with adults experiencing a range of conditions, including:

  • Depression, anxiety, and stress, including burnout and sleep difficulties
  • Long-standing patterns that keep showing up across relationships, work, and how you see yourself
  • Relationships, communication, and boundaries
  • Difficulty managing intense emotions, anger, or reactivity
  • Perfectionism, self-criticism, and a harsh inner voice
  • Identity, belonging, and self-worth
  • Men's mental health and wellbeing
  • Bipolar disorder, and unusual or distressing experiences (including hearing or sensing things others don't)
  • Life transitions, grief, and adjustment
